Last night Joel Hardman taught me how to make it! He just spent 2 years in Rome, Italy and he'll be heading back soon :) Thanks Joel for the lesson!
My first tiramisu...
Recipe
tiramisu; the silver spoon
serves 6
2 egg whites
4 egg yolks
1 1/4 c. confectioners sugar
1 3/4 c. mascarpone cheese
7 ounces ladyfingers
3/4 c. freshly brewed extra strong coffee, cooled
7 ounces semisweet chocolate, grated
unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Stiffly whisk the egg whites in a grease-free bowl. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar in another bowl until pale & fluffy. Gently fold in the mascarpone, then the egg whites. Make a layer of ladyfingers on the base of a deep, rectangular serving dish & brush them evenly with coffee. Cover with a layer of the mascarpone cream & sprinkle with a little grated chocolate. Continue making layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of mascarpone cream. Dust with cocoa & chill in the refrigerator for 3 hours.
enjoy.
Joel also made an incredible chicken curry dish!! And his own nan bread. It was so good!!! If you haven't had tiki masala curry you need to go try it tonight. If you live in Cincinnati; here's our favorite, Ambar!
I know, curry & tiramsi...doesn't really go together. But that's how good of a friend Joel is! I really wanted him to teach me how to make it, so we had both!
Oh, doesn't that look soo good!?
